2022 Coordinated Public Transit-Human Services Transportation Plan for Ada and Canyon counties

Federal transit law requires that projects selected for funding under the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Section 5310 program be derived from a locally developed Coordinated Public Transit-Human Services Transportation Plan (or “Coordinated Plan”). This plan engages public transportation and human service providers in identifying the transportation needs of individuals with disabilities, older adults, and people with low incomes. This plan will provide strategies for meeting those needs and prioritize transportation services for funding and implementation.

Meridian Fixed-Route Service

VRT worked with the City of Meridian, local businesses, and the general public to develop a new route serving the heart of Meridian. That route began service on October 3, 2022.

Regional Vanpool Study

Valley Regional Transit and Ada County Highway District Commuteride, the regional vanpool provider, have partnered to evaluate the impacts of commuters changing needs on vanpool programs and offerings, and develop concrete solutions and action steps to expand the breadth and reach of vanpool and shared mobility services regionwide.

State Street Alternative Analysis

In cooperation with the State Street Technical Team and participants from the Ada County Highway District (ACHD), City of Boise, the Capital City Development Corporation (CCDC), the Community Planning Association of Southwest Idaho (COMPASS) and the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD), Fehrs and Peers led an alternative analysis to recommend a preferred alternative for transit service between State Street, Whitewater Park, and downtown Boise.
